The Old Forge Bed and Breakfast, East Kennet

Laura and Leslie run an established 4 starred and multi award winning, very homely bed and breakfast in the lovely village of East Kennet. The Old Forge is a charming and beautifully restored old smithy set on the edge of the Avebury World Heritage Site with the unexcavated Neolithic East Kennet Long Barrow on the hill behind and the river Kennet running through the bottom of their garden having only recently left its source near Silbury Hill. Parts of the house date back to the fourteenth century which give it a fair amount of history of its own! They have four very reasonably priced comfortable and tasteful rooms and include breakfast in the cost. While I was chatting to Leslie in the dining room two partridges and a female pheasant were pecking around the garden steps. It is a perfect rural retreat and touring base, exactly what I would hope for from a traditional English Bed and Breakfast.
